I need to check with my business partner: how to respond

For the closer: understand what is holding up the decision before trying to answer.

A business partner is not a barrier to bypass. They may have real authority over the purchase. Find out who decides and what information is missing before trying to close.

What it usually means

  1. Shared decision. Both people need to approve. Include decision makers rather than excluding them.
  2. Second opinion. The person can decide but wants input from someone they trust. Ask which part they need to review.
  3. An unresolved question. They may also have a concern of their own. Ask without dismissing the partnership.

What to say, in two sentences

These are two turns, not a monologue. Ask the first question, listen, and use the second line only when it fits the answer.

“Which part of this decision does your business partner need to review with you?”

“If you both make the decision, we can prepare that information and speak together instead of asking you to answer for them.”

These lines are educational templates, not a real case or a promise of a sale. They do not replace consent, complete information, or a clear no.

What not to say

When not to push

When both people decide, one person's yes does not confirm the purchase. Offer an accurate summary or a joint conversation if they want it. Never invent approval that has not happened.
