It is not a good time: respond without fake urgency

For the closer: understand what is holding up the decision before trying to answer.

Timing may not be the cause. There may be a real priority, an unresolved concern, or a no. Asking about a concrete condition is more useful than arguing about whether the perfect time exists.

What it usually means

  1. Real condition. Something prevents them from moving ahead. Understand it before proposing a different date.
  2. Another concern. Trust, budget, or fit may be unresolved. Rescheduling does not answer those questions.
  3. They want to stop. They have the right to reject the offer without giving you a future date.

What to say, in two sentences

These are two turns, not a monologue. Ask the first question, listen, and use the second line only when it fits the answer.

“What is happening right now that makes this the wrong time?”

“Is there a specific condition that would need to change before we revisit this, or would you rather not pursue this offer?”

These lines are educational templates, not a real case or a promise of a sale. They do not replace consent, complete information, or a clear no.

What not to say

When not to push

If the condition will not change or they do not want to continue, end the conversation respectfully. If you agree to revisit it, record what needs to change and when a review would make sense.
